Machining steel
Optimized steel for machining on fully automatic tool machines
Machinig steel are alloys of quality engineering steel that have been optimized for machining on fully automatic tool and lathe machines. Due to being alloyed with sulphur, phosphorus and plumb there are brittle inclusions in the material. Thanks to these inclusions the splinters while machining are shorter so that machining with an automatic machine is possible and production can be optimized.
The proportion of plumb in many alloys improves the quality of the surface of the material and therefore allows higher cutting / turning speed. This saves time and costs in the automized production.
Machining steel cannot be welded and is therefore usually produced as bare profile bars. It is normally used for connection or fastening elements (screws, smaller shafts, hydraulic piston).
HSM® supplies the right machining steel for your application and is happy to help you finding the right alternative material.
