Copper alloy with tin (CuSn)
The copper alloy bronze is available as a wrought as well as a casting alloy and has a content of min. 60% copper and tin. Metallurgic materials are named with their mainly added alloys, e.g. aluminium-bronze (CuAl), beryllium-bronze (CuBe), manganese-bronze (CuMg) or engineering bronze (CuSnZn).
Bronze is characterized by the following:
- harder than copper
- high tensile strength
- resistant against decomposition
- easily machinable
- wear and corrosion resistant
