Unalloyed tool steel
Carbon steel with resilient core
Unalloyed tool steel is characterized by its especially high proportion of carbon from 0,5 – 1,5% as well as by its resilience in the material’s core.
This steel’s surface hardness is often highly increased by a heat treatment including hardening and ensuing tempering. This steel is part of the group of cold work steels which should usually be processed at a temperature of below 200°C.
This carbon steel is mostly used in tool and mould making as well as in the food industry.
HSM® is happy to supply you with unalloyed tool steel and moreover we organize heat treatment or processing if required.
